본 시는 다윗이 고독과 두려움의 순간에서 엔게디 굴에 숨어 환난을 피할 때 드린 기도시 입니다.

1. 다윗의 애소

시인은 하나님 앞에서 자신의 고통을 소리 내어 외치고 도움을 간청합니다. 그는 굴속에서 홀로 마음껏 소리 질러 하나님께 기도했고 그것은 다윗에게 오랫동안 기억될 만큼 기쁨을 주었습니다.

2. 주께서 내 처지를 아셨나이다

다윗은 자기 앞에 놓인 올무를 하나님은 알고 계시고 자신을 도우실 수 있음을 알기에 하나님께 자신의 고통을 아룁니다(3절).
그는 헤아릴 수 없을 정도로 많은 박해의 덤불 속에 파묻혀 있었고, 무고한 핍박을 받고 있었습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 아무도 그를 동정하거나 보호하지 않았고 생명을 걱정해 주지 않았습니다. 그때 다윗은 시편 16편에서의 자신의 고백을 상기합니다. “내가 여호와를 항상 내 앞에 모심이여 그가 나의 오른쪽에 계시므로 내가 흔들리지 아니하리로다”(시 16:8). 사람의 도움은 없으나 하나님의 도움이 있다는 것입니다.

3. 주는 나의 분깃

다윗은 동굴 속에서 외롭고 위태로운 상황에서도 하나님을 보았습니다. 하나님은 자신이 필요로 하는 모든 것이었습니다.
① 주는 나의 피난처이요(5절)
② 주는 나의 분깃이라(5절)
③ 하나님은 나의 구원주시며(6절)
④ 하나님은 나의 해방자시라(7절)
다윗은 무엇보다 하나님을 섬기고 마음껏 찬양하기 위해 동굴의 감옥에서 자유 얻기를 소원했습니다.

4. 다윗의 전망

다윗은 비록 자신의 미래를 보지는 못하지만 하나님께서 잘 인도하실 것을 믿었습니다. 집을 떠나 아무 것도 가진 것이 없지만 하나님을 피난처로, 분깃으로 삼고 만족했습니다. 하나님의 선하심 때문에 다윗은 더 이상 외롭거나 두렵지 않았고 미래에 의인들로 둘러싸일 것을 믿었습니다.

사랑하는 성도 여러분,

십자가 상에서 예수님은 완전히 혼자이셨지만 하나님은 예수님께 다시 오셨습니다. 하나님이 그러하신 것처럼 예수님은 우리를 버리지 않으십니다.
역경과 고난 중에도 하나님을 분깃으로 삼으시고 승리하시는 하나님의 백성들이 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 소원합니다.



A prayer in the cave
(Psalm 142:1-7)

Psalm 142 is a prayer that David lifted up as he was hiding in the cave of En Gedi and that kept him from affliction during his moments of loneliness and danger.

1. David's plea

The psalmist cried out loudly before the Lord in the midst of his trouble and entreated the Lord for help. He raised his voice in prayer as much as he liked; which made his prayer memorable for a long time.

2. The Lord knows my plight

Because David was confident that the Lord knew where the snare was hidden and believed that the Lord could help him, he told the Lord his trouble (v. 3). He was buried under immense pressure, and persecuted without any guilt on his part. Nonetheless, there was none who showed him pity, expressed any concern, or cared for his life. During that time, David remembered his own confession in Psalm 16, "I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken" (Psalm 16:8). This meant that there was no one he could depend on for help except the Lord.

3. The Lord is my portion

David looked to the Lord even when he was lonely and in the midst of danger in the cave. The Lord was all that he needed.
(1) The Lord is my refuge (v. 5).
(2) The Lord is my portion (v. 5).
(3) God is my rescuer (v. 6).
(4) God is my liberator (v. 7).
Above all else, David wanted to be free from this prison of the cave in order to worship and praise God to his heart's content.

4. David's prospect
Even though David himself could not see his future, he believed that God would lead him well. He left his home and didn't have any possession, but he was satisfied with setting God as his refuge and portion. Because of God's goodness, he was no longer lonely, but believed that he would be surrounded by righteous men in the future.

Jesus was completely alone on the cross, but God did not abandon Jesus Christ to the grave. Likewise, just as God has done for Jesus, Jesus himself will never abandon us. By setting God as our portion in adversity, I earnestly pray that you and I will be God's successful people in the name of Jesus Christ.
