본문 : 시편 131:1-3

죄에서 구원함을 받고 하나님 나라에 들어가기 위해서는 우리 모두 어린 아이처럼 되어야 하며, 어린 아이처럼 되기 위해서는 우두머리 자리를 위해 비열한 행동을 하는 대신 자신을 겸손한 자로 변화시켜야 합니다.

1. 난해한 교훈을 가진 쉬운 시
시편 131편의 저자는 변해야 한다는 교훈을 배운 사람입니다. 본시는 3절밖에 되지 않는 짧은 시로서 읽기는 쉽지만 그 안에 담긴 교훈을 배우기는 매우 어렵습니다. 스펄젼 목사님은 본시를 ‘짧은 사다리’라고 표현하며 그러나 아주 높은 곳에 올라간 자라고 말씀합니다.

2. 자기만족을 하는 자신
시편 131편은 다윗이 무엇을 했는지 또는 하나님이 그를 바꾸어 놓으시기 전에 그의 성향이 어떠했는지, 그리고 하나님만 만족하는 법을 배운 개인 간증입니다.
다윗도 별 수 없는 아담의 후예였기 때문에 교만했고, 오만했으며 큰 야망을 가졌었습니다. 그러나 하나님으로부터 교만을 절제하는 법과, 겸손해지는 법과 하나님이 모든 일을 하신다는 것을 배웠습니다.

3. 거듭난 자신
다윗은 1절에서의 교만하고 오만하고 야망에 넘쳤던 자기 삶을 부인하고 2절에 와서는 어머니를 의지하는 아이처럼 하나님을 완전히 의지함을 말씀합니다.
다윗은 겸손과 신뢰의 덕성에 관한 것 뿐 아니라 교만과 야망의 반대 표현을 ‘젖 뗀 아이’로 합니다. 다윗은 아이가 젖 떼는 과정을 거치는 것처럼 서서히 자기를 돌보시고 공급해 주시는 하나님을 의지할 것을 배웠습니다.
젖을 떼기 전에는 하나님으로부터 얻을 수 있는 것만 구했습니다. 그러나 젖 뗀 후에는 하나님이 자기를 사랑하시고 그가 기대하거나 원하는 법대로는 아니지만 하나님께서 자기를 돌보시고 사랑하신다는 사실을 배웠습니다. 그래서 다윗도 하나님 자신을 위해 하나님을 사랑하게 되었습니다. 다시 말해서 성숙한 관계가 된 것입니다.

결론을 말씀드립니다.

시편 131편은 다윗이 자신에 관해 쓴 지극히 개인적인 시이지만 마지막에 가서는 자신과 이스라엘을 보고 그가 배운 것을 독자도 배우도록 도전합니다.
“이스라엘아 지금부터 영원까지 여호와를 바랄지어다”(3절).
하나님만이 완전히 우리의 소망이시고 우리를 실망시키지 않으실 것입니다. 진리를 아는 것은 매우 영적인 것입니다. 그러나 슬프게도 많은 그리스도인들이 아직도 영적인 유아기에 있습니다.
젖을 뗀 아이처럼 하나님 자신을 사랑하며 성숙한 신자로서 지금부터 영원토록 하나님을 바라는 저와 여러분이 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 소원합니다.


Like a gratified child
(Psalm 131:1-3)

We must become like a child in order to be saved from our sins and enter heaven. And to become like a child, we must be changed into a humble person.

1. An easy Psalm with a hard lesson
The psalmist who wrote this psalm learned the lesson of how to change himself. Although this psalm has only three verses and is a quick read, the lessons implied in them are difficult to learn. Pastor Charles Spurgeon described this psalm as a short ladder, but described the person who climbed it as one who had ascended to the highest place.

2. His own self-satisfaction
Psalm 131 is an individual confession of faith in which the writer learned what King David had done, how his character had been changed before God, and how God was satisfied with him. Since he was a descendent of Adam without any special key, King David was also proud and haughty, having great ambition. However, he learned how to be moderate and humble, doing whatever God wanted him to do.

3. The man who was born again
In verse 1, King David denied that he had any pride or haughtiness, or that he had ambition for his life, but in verse 2, he was completely dependent upon God as a child relies upon its mother. King David expressed his opposition to pride and ambition as well as the morality of being modest and trusting as ‘a weaned child.’ Just as a child went through the course of being weaned from its mother, he had gradually learned to rely upon the God who took care of him and supplied what he needed.
Before being weaned, the child would only ask what it could get from its mother. However, after being weaned, when the child hadn’t received what he was expecting or wanting, he learned the fact that God loved and took care of him. Therefore, David came to love God for God Himself. In other words, his relationship with God had matured.

Conclusion
Although Psalm 131 was written by David as more of a personal psalm, by the end of the psalm, he was speaking to Israel, challenging his readers to learn what he had learned. “O Israel, put your hope in the Lord now and forevermore” (v. 3). The Lord is our hope and He will not bring us to despair. The fact that we know this truth is spiritual, but regrettably there are many Christians who remain in a period of spiritual childhood. I sincerely pray that as mature Christians, you and I will put our hope in the Lord both now and forevermore in the name of Jesus Christ.
