본문 : 시편 133:1-3

“형제가 연합하여 동거함이 어찌 그리 선하고 아름다운고”(1절), 다윗은 자기 왕국을 위하여 이 같은 복을 열망했습니다. 그러나 위대한 다윗왕도 이 같은 이상은 실현하지 못했습니다. 순수한 공동체는 예수 그리스도로만 세워질 수 있습니다. 시편 132편의 메시아의 통치를 통해 주어진 복의 약속이 본 편에 나타나고 있습니다.

1. 연합의 복
연합과 화합은 강자에게 굴종하거나 약자를 정복하는 것이 아닌, 하나님을 정점으로 이루어지는 것이므로 아름다움의 극치라고 할 수 있습니다. 연합은 하나님으로부터 온 선물입니다. 우리는 죄인들입니다. 죄의 비참한 모습 가운데는 분열, 부조화, 적개심 등이 있습니다. 그러나 죄를 이기신 하나님은 다시금 조화를 가져오십니다. 그리고 모든 연합은 하나님으로부터 옵니다.
국가나 교회, 그리고 가정의 평화는 중요한 사람에게만 유익한 것이 아니고 모든 사람에게 유익합니다. 화평과 연합은 모든 사람에게 복이 되는 것입니다. 그리고 연합의 축복은 한 사람에게서 다른 사람에게로 흐릅니다. 또한 연합은 천국을 미리 맛보는 것입니다. 세상의 어떤 것은 우리에게 좋으나 유쾌함이 없습니다. 그러나 하나님 백성이 누리는 연합은 선하고 유쾌한 것입니다.

2. 연합의 실종
오늘날 우리 사회는 연합보다는 분열과 갈등이 심화되고 있습니다. 다원주의가 숭상되고, 경쟁사회가 되면서 연합과 조화는 개인권리와 집단 이기주의에 밀려 더 이상 고급가치로 인정받지 못하고 있습니다. 다원주의는 개인주의의 뿌리가 되었습니다.
교회도 예외는 아닙니다. 교회는 공동체의 마지막 보루입니다. 그러나 교회도 개인주의를 피할 수 없습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 교회에서는 연합을 찾을 수 있고 세워질 수 있습니다. 예수님은 교회를 위해 기도하실 때 자기 백성들이 연합하게 해달라고 하셨습니다. 그러므로 우리는 그리스도와 그의 복음에 공동 참여하는 것에 근거한 연합, 즉 영적 연합 또는 하나님 안에 있는 연합을 이루어야 합니다.

3. 모델 교회
에수님이 부활 승천 하신 후 예루살렘에서 교회가 처음 탄생했습니다. 성도들은 제가끔 받은 은사를 활용함으로 교회는 계속 성장했으나 거기엔 위선, 교리적 오류, 모든 종류의 죄가 있었습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 초대교회는 모든 면에서 모델 교회였습니다. 무엇보다 초대교회에는 연합을 뜻하는 교제가 이루어지고 있었습니다. 초대교회 성도들에게는 하나님과 바르고 적극적인 교제를 함으로 이웃과도 바르고 적극적인 교제를 했습니다. 초대교회에는 사도들의 가르침이 있었고, 성도간의 교제와 예배와 성찬이 있었습니다.

날마다 하나님과 바른 연합을 하면서 하늘나라에서 보여질 완전한 연합을 바라보는 저와 여러분이 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 간절히 소원합니다.


Unity and community
(Psalm 133:1-3)


"How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!" (v. 1). David longed for a kingdom that was blessed like this, but the great king never realized this ideal. A pure community can only be built by Jesus Christ. The promise of the blessings under the Messiah's reign in Psalm 132 are expressed well here.

1. The blessing of unity
Unity and harmony do not mean that people need to succumb to the strong or subdue the weak. However, we can say that unity and harmony are the ideals of beauty, because they reach their peak in the Lord. Unity is a gift that comes from God. Because of our miserable sins, there is disunity, disharmony, and hostility, but God, who has won over our sin, will once again bring harmony. All unity comes from God. The peace of a country, church, and family is beneficial not only to important persons but to all. Harmony and unity become blessings upon all people; the blessing of unity flows from one person to another. And this unity allows us to taste heaven in advance. Certain things in this world seem to be ok, but they don't really give us happiness. Therefore, the unity that God's people enjoy is good and pleasant.

2. The disappearance of unity
Today our society is deepening into disunity and conflict rather than unity. While pluralism is being pursued and society is becoming competitive, unity and harmony are pushed out by the rights of the individual and group egoism. Unity and harmony are no longer recognized as the highest virtues any more. Pluralism has become the root of individualism.
The church is no exception. The church is the last fortress of community, but the church cannot avoid individualism. However, we can find unity and build it into the church. When Jesus prayed for the church, he prayed that his people would be united. Therefore, we must build a unity based on community which means participating together in Jesus and His gospel: a spiritual unity, and a unity found in God.

3. The model church
After Jesus' resurrection and ascension to heaven, the church was built for the first time in Jerusalem. When Christians received gracious gifts and made good use of them, the church grew continually. Yet in the midst of all of this, there was also hypocrisy, doctrine error, and many other kinds of sin in the church. Yet, the early church was a model church in every regard. First of all, the early church kept a large company of people which meant that unity was among them. Because the Christians in the early church kept their relationship with God in righteousness and positiveness, neighbours also kept their relationship with others in righteousness and positiveness. In the early church, there was apostolic teaching, fellowship, worship, and the Lord's supper among the Christians.
